Last Minute Gifts for Leaders: Information & Tools

Your e-Lead colleagues are sending you 3 last minute gifts:

Map of the Future: The KnowledgeWorks Foundation commissioned the Institute for the Future to create a map to examine the forces affecting education and our economy. According to the map, increasing access to a burgeoning Internet over the next decade holds the promise of a watershed democratization of learning. Yet, at the same time, access to learning for children in poverty is under threat because of the growth of a new market-based learning economy. Copies of the map are available free from the
Foundation

Research-based Info: The Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) launched a Web site - Usable Knowledge - to connect the research of its faculty with educators in the field. Information is
provided in the following categories: Leadership and Policy; Learning and Development; Decisions through Data; Community and Family, and Teaching and Curriculum.

MySpace: Has the explosive growth of social networking created challenges for you or for a school leader in your network? Help is at hand. MySpace.com has developed a helpful how-to guide for school administrators and teachers. It covers cyber-bullying, inappropriate postings, etc., and provides direct phone/e-mail access to staff at MySpace should school leaders experience problems. As long as copies are available, MySpace will fulfill requests for copies. For additional information, please contact
Simrin.Mangat@fox.com.

I am looking for a research instrument for my dissertation research. I am interested in researching; the principal's perception as to what extent their training has prepared them for making decisions as they relate to NCLB and IDEA. Does anyone have any information? I would be grateful any guidence and direction. Char Cole ccole@hillsdale-isd.org
