LEADERS SPREADING THE WORD
Teacher Leaders' Stories - Educational Leadership, ASCD’s award-winning publication, wants your description of a teacher leadership experience. Tell EL readers (in 300–500 words) about a time when you saw good teacher leadership in action. Describe how a teacher—or a group—acted as a leader in a school, or describe a time when you showed leadership. What conditions made it possible for this leadership to emerge? What was the result?
E-mail your story here by Friday, May 4, 2007, with "Leadership Description" in the subject line. Please include complete contact information (name, address, phone number, school, position, and e-mail address) in the message. Questions? Contact Deborah Perkins-Gough, Senior Editor, at 703-575-5694 or send her an e-mail here. ASCD will publish the best of the stories in the September 2007 issue on "Teachers as Leaders."
LeaderTalk – Scott C. McLeod, founder of CASTLE (the Center for the Advanced Study of Technology Leadership in Education), University of Minnesota, recently launched the first blog “by school leaders for school leaders.” The blog, LeaderTalk, hopes to provide insights and resources beneficial to P-12 administrators and educational leadership preparation programs. McLeod has helped many principals and other administrators create blogs – strategies to help school leaders inform their stakeholders, gather input, and build a shared sense of community. As of the March 14, 2007 EdWeek story, McLeod was still looking for leaders – building or central office level – who wanted/needed help creating a blog. Want to write for LeaderTalk? Want/need help creating a blog? Contact LeaderTalk here.
