The Academy | University of Michigan -- Flint

History

The Academy program is funded through a No Child Left Behind School Leadership grant awarded the National Center for Community Education (NCCE) (Flint, MI) in 2003. The University of Michigan-Flint School of Education and Human Services (SEHS) provides in-kind services and partial-tuition scholarships to qualified program participants. Seeds for the program were planted in 2001 through a Mott Foundation grant to SEHS resulting in the formation of the Urban Student Achievement Coalition (USAC), a consortium of superintendents of seven Genesee County (MI) high-needs districts, and a 2002 DeWitt-Wallace Fund Ventures in Leadership grant.
