Requirements
The Master of Public Administration with a Concentration in (Urban) Education is offered through the University of Michigan – Flint College of Arts and Sciences in conjunction with the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies. To participate in the MPA program, candidates must (a), meet admission requirements for the MPA program (b), be employed in one of the projects seven target districts, and (c) commit to work in one of the seven districts for a minimum of four years upon completion of the MPA program (in exchange for partial tuition reimbursement provided by NCLB School Leadership grant). Coursework aligned with Michigan Board of Education Standards for the Preparation of School Principals and State of Michigan and Michigan Department of Education recertification requirements. Academy programs are open to any aspiring or practicing principal within the seven target districts. Participants for all Academy programs are identified through self-selection as well as nomination by district superintendents.
