Coaching Leaders to Attain Student Success (CLASS) & New Administrators Project (NAP) | New Teacher Center | University of California - Santa Cruz

Theory of Change

School improvement is dependent upon effective teaching and leadership and the development of strong teaching and school leadership professions. Professionals need induction support in their first few years of service. Quality induction is grounded in intensive coaching or mentoring.

The NTC’s core values include the belief that good teachers are at the center of successful education and that positive changes in schooling depend upon a strong teaching profession and quality teachers, effective shared leadership, and supportive working conditions. Any “theory of change” informing educational improvement must address the need to build human capital in schools.

The NTC is committed to supporting the role of schooling in strengthening our democracy and in pursuing social justice.
