First Ring Leadership Academy | Cleveland State University in Partnership with the First Ring School Superintendents Collaborative

Program Goals

Creating the next generation of exemplary leaders for First Ring school and sustaining their leadership over time in a way that benefits their schools, their extended communities, and the learning lives of all children regardless of their circumstances.

In 2006 First Ring plans to:

  • Organize a national consortium of best practice leadership development programs;
  • Launch the Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership for aspiring leaders through a grant award from the Ohio Department of Education.
  • Further examine the feasibility and development of an innovative doctoral program for First Ring school leaders.
  • Create First Ring leadership professional development programs for First Ring superintendents and school boards.
  • Sustain support of the Academy among current funding partners and cultivate support from potential partners.
  • Continue to collect and analyze studies to determine what implication the results have for the development of First Ring school leaders.
  • Review model programs where the selection of potential leaders is more advanced and research-based to inform and improve the Academy’s selection process. Continue to develop and increase attendance at the Academy’s postgraduate support programs, the Innovation Forums and Saturday Immersion Seminars.
