First Ring Leadership Academy | Cleveland State University in Partnership with the First Ring School Superintendents Collaborative
History
The First Ring Leadership Academy was founded in 2003 by First Ring School Superintendents who identified a critical shortage of exemplary leaders for their schools. The blueprint for the Academy emerged from the ISLLC standards and best practices in school leadership training.
The design of the First Ring Leadership Academy emerged from the expectations of the First Ring School Superintendents Collaborative. Superintendents were interviewed at length; questions such as why create the academy, who is it for, what should it look like, what do successful school leaders do, and what are the intended outcomes. These questions helped shape the Academy. A review of extant leadership initiatives aided us in determining exactly who we were, what our mission is and a commitment was made not to stray from our intended purposes.
