Indiana Principal Leadership Academy (IPLA) | Indiana Department of Education
History
After the 1986 Indiana General Assembly appropriated the monies necessary for program implementation, the task of designing the Indiana Principal Leadership Academy moved into full swing. In the initial discussions, it was agreed that a principals' academy should be a unique, innovative approach to professional development. A think tank consisting of school educators, university representatives, business leaders, superintendents and parents met to plan the Academy. The program is entering its twentieth year with alumni representing all areas of the state. An alumni board has been established to support IPLA and continue connection with graduates. The alumni board is responsible for sponsoring a major winter, two-day conference for school teams.
