Learning Priorities
The priorities of the academy are in leadership, culture, teaching and learning, and communication. At the academy leadership means understanding one’s personal leadership style and its effect on the learning organization and the change process for systems. In learning about culture, the school leader is to gain knowledge of the culture of a professional learning community and research-based strategies that effect culture such as inquiry, reflection, action research, networking, study groups, coaching, and evaluation. In teaching and learning, participants will understand the principles of effective instruction and best practice and curriculum design, implementation, evaluation, and refinement. In communication, the school leader will learn about information literacy and effective communication skills and the conditions and dynamics of the diverse school community.
