Illinois Technology and Leadership for Change (ITLC) | Illinois State University | (Originally supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation)

Activities

All instructional activities are developed and facilitated through meaningful learning experiences and activities -- based in the school leadership context as well as appropriate strategies for adult learners -- as determined by the best practices focused in adult learning theory and brain-based research. Each curriculum concept is activity driven and was developed using the Knowledge, Reasoning, Skills, and Product/Performances (KRSP) instructional model of Richard Stiggins' Illinois Standards Aligned Classrooms Project to ensure that each learning experience in the ITLC program includes components for knowledge, dispositions, and performances advocated by the ISLLC standards for school leadership. Thus, ITLC models best practices in curriculum planning (KRSP) and instructional design (brain-based research and adult learning strategies) for and with school leaders so they may replicate such modeling back in their home schools and districts.

ITLC develops skills a school leader needs for developing and supporting a shared vision, school culture, and instructional programs emphasizing student learning from beginning to end of the program. ITLC begins with a mission statement based in improved student performance. ITLC emphasizes teaching and learning and student achievement as its primary goals.
