Learner-Centered Leadership for Language and Culturally Diverse Schools in High-Needs Urban Settings | Arizona State University
Activities: More Details
One part of the LCL program is the development of action learning plans, implemented by the rising administrators. The purpose of these action learning plans is to outline a series of actions that would help rising administrators improve professionally and strengthen their school as a learning community. Participants focus on an individual professional development plan, a school-level initiative or program, or an action research project as the foundation of the action learning plan. The categories for the action goals include: a) Academic Intervention, b) Literacy, c) Parent Involvement, d) Professional Growth, e) Student Behavior/Discipline, and f) Teacher Quality/Teacher Development. These categories provided a way to organize rising and mentor administrators together for formal conversations and workshops. In the first cohort of participating administrators, twenty-one of the action plans focus on new program implementation on campus; eight are action research projects; and four are geared toward professional growth opportunities for the individual administrator.
