Learner-Centered Leadership for Language and Culturally Diverse Schools in High-Needs Urban Settings | Arizona State University
Strategies for Student Success
This Learner-Centered Leadership fosters student success through professional development which focuses on the leader as learner. The approach to professional development is reflective inquiry. This approach encourages administrators to generate knowledge through a process of systematic inquiry in which the source of knowledge is self-reflection and engagement. Action learning projects, networking, mentoring, reflective reading and writing are key components of the Learner-centered Leadership program.
The professional development activities being proposed recognize that leadership skills are standards-focused and job-embedded. Continuous assessment of the quality of the programs offered and the impact of those activities on principals and the schools in which they work are an embedded part of the proposed project activities. Causal-comparative data will be utilized to help determine effectiveness of performances prior to implementation of the project and if there is an increase in effectiveness after the project has implemented each objective.
