Principal Leadership Forum | Laboratory for Student Success (LSS) at Temple University

Activities

The Forum spotlights the current research base on transforming low performing schools into high performing learning communities and creates the focus and tone for principals as they work to identify data which assists their decision-making leading to school transformation. The program develops management skills as principals: 1) identify strategies that will empower them to share building leadership strategies with teachers and other staff members; 2) study benchmark standards, district standards, assessment, and the strategies necessary for principals and school staff members to align all components; 3) practice strategies to identify building leaders, their competencies, and their plan for sharing aspects of leadership; 4) identify attributes of quality professional development opportunities, their planning and implementation. In the Forum principals investigate resources and strategies for assessing student needs and for identifying community resources that will work in tandem with schools linking families and community. They also develop consensus skills which help link stakeholders. Developing ownership is incorporated into the leadership roles required for successful contemporary principals.
