Learning Priorities

NISL’s executive development supports all the leadership standards with best practice as an instructional leader and increased student achievement as ultimate goals. In order to achieve improved student performance, high expectations, and success for all, the principal must be an instructional leader, understand how to lead the organization, be visionary, practice effective collaboration, be an ethical leader and understand, respond to, and be able to influence stakeholders (ISLLC #1 - #6). In addition, NISL executive development emphasizes the critical role of data in turning around low performing schools, as well as in making good schools great (NAESP’s Standard #5 and NASSP’s Standard #4). Throughout our training, participants have an opportunity to understand the importance of using multiple data sources as diagnostic tools to assess, identify and apply instructional improvement. NISL is all about best practices, leadership craft, and getting results. We are cohort-based, steeped in research, and embedded in the workplace.
