School Leadership Executive Institute (SLEI) | South Carolina Department of Education
Requirements
To be eligible to participate in SLEI you must have completed the Principal Induction Program (PIP), a two-year mandatory program for new principals in South Carolina, must be currently employed as a principal, and must be recommended by the district superintendent. Each year three new cohorts of SLEI are initiated with 25-30 participants in each cohort. To date, that capacity has been sufficient for the demand.
In addition to SLEI the Office of School Leadership offers other programs along the educational leadership continuum. These programs include a one-year institute for aspiring principals, a two-year induction program for new principals, a special one-year program for district administrators, a program that trains educators on the South Carolina administrator evaluation system (Program for Assisting, Developing, and Evaluating Principal Performance), a rigorous program for educators that have been recognized as potential superintendents, and an ongoing topical-seminar series.
