Program Description
This K-12 program provides an overview of at-risk students and how differentiation of instruction fits into the learning experience of these students to help them become successful. Current at-risk and student learning research and reform efforts are addressed, and strategies through differentiation of instruction are emphasized. The differentiation strategies that are learned will help the participant better assist at-risk students.

Program Goals and Objectives
By the end of the program, participants will learn strategies for effectively and positively helping at-risk students through differentiation of instruction strategies.
Program Format
The program opens with a definition and discussion of the at-risk student. Using current literature and best practices, the provider will introduce such models as multi-age classrooms, looping, and a school within a school. The provider will show a video which focuses on differentiation of instruction with special populations. Participants will investigate, in large and small groups, different models of differentiation of instruction. By the end of the program, participants will produce and present models and/or lesson plans that emphasize differentiation of instruction and assist at-risk students.

- One full day of 6-8 hours or two half-days of 3-4 hours each
