Program Description
There are no tasks that send shivers down an educator's spine as much as dealing with difficult parents or having to deliver bad news to a student's parent. This program is designed to assist all educators by providing an overview of parent life today to explain the paradigm from which many of them operate. Then, this program provides concrete, easy to implement techniques for dealing with even the most challenging parents in the most challenging situations.Virginia Standard(s) Addressed

Program Goals and Objectives
By the end of this program participants will learn:
- what triggers difficult parents;
- how to stop conflict before it starts;
- tools to be more effective when communicating with parents;
- specific words and phrases educators should and shouldn't use; and
- how to increase effectiveness by diffusing difficult situations.

This program will be implemented as a presentation using approximately 60% lecture and 40% interaction.Target Audience
