Program Description
This program provides an overview of instructional improvement in the school and classroom through an emphasis on analysis of multiple sources of data including standardized testing, classroom assessment, grades, and other performance measures. Norm- and criterion-referenced tests will be explored and analyzed at the national and local level. The accountability movement will be discussed using the Virginia Standards of Learning and No Child Left Behind.

Program Goals and Objectives
By the end of this program, participants will determine various sources of data, analyze and present data from norm-referenced and criterion-referenced tests for instructional improvement, and identify national and state accountability movements that impact student achievement and instructional improvement.
Program Format
This program will open with a discussion of the accountability movement and continue with a focus on different types of assessment. Participants will learn the basics of norm-referenced and criterion-referenced test, will work in groups to analyze the tests scores of these two types of tests, and will present their analysis with recommendations for school improvement.

- One full day of 6-8 hours or two half-days of 3-4 hours each
- Your own private session for collaboration, consensus-building, and strategic planning

Participant analysis and discussion of how data can be used in the local school setting.
