A Model Curriculum for School Leaders | Virginia Department of Education
Program Description
As part of Phase 2 of the State Action for Education Leadership Project (SAELP), a task force convened to make recommendations for a model curriculum to be used by approved programs in school leadership preparation. An advisory committee comprised of field practitioners, higher educational personnel, and administrative association representatives will convene to discover the feasibility of institutionalizing these recommendations. Future professional development activities will focus on implementing the resultant uniform recommendations.Virginia Standard(s) Addressed

Program Goals and Objectives
By the end of this program participants will demonstrate the ability to recognize the elements of a strong curriculum for preparing school leaders. Participants will recognize the roles played by institutions of higher education and practitioners in implementing a curriculum to most effectively train school leaders.Program Format
This program will be implemented as a series of meetings and forums to first develop a method for institutionalizing recommendations and then to train stakeholders in implementing the uniform recommendations.Target Audience
Initially, the target audience will be invited members of the advisory committee. Ultimately, stakeholders at all levels (i.e. higher education personnel, school division personnel) will be invited to participate.Self-Selection and/or Identification Through School Division
