Reading Leadership Institute for Middle Schools | Consortium on Reading Excellence (CORE)
Program Description
The Consortium on Reading Excellence (CORE) Middle School Institute is designed to provide a focused professional development experience for middle school principals, assistant principals, and lead reading teachers, as well as central office administrators responsible for the implementation of reading instruction for middle schools. The Institute includes sessions focusing on the scientific research on reading, particularly issues for older, struggling readers; unique challenges faced by middle schools; implementation successes; classroom observation protocols; assessment analysis templates; challenges faced by English language learners; work on distributed leadership; and a framework that addresses the different needs of students and teachers involved in a fully implemented, research-based program.Virginia Standard(s) Addressed
