SREB Leadership Curriculum Modules | Principals' Center of Hampton Roads Old Dominion University

Program Description

The Principals' Center has trainers for the following modules:

Virginia Standard(s) Addressed

SREB modules are correlated with all ISLLC standards.

Program Goals and Objectives

By the end of this program participants will demonstrate the ability to use strategies and tools from the modules to improve their schools and raise student achievement.

Program Format

Included in each module are activities that engage participants in:

Target Audience

Modules are designed to be taught to school leaders and potential school leaders. This may include school teams of principals, aspiring principals, teacher leaders, and others. When the participants are not principals, they will need the support of their school principals in order to complete the pre-work and the field work portfolio.

Self-Selection and/or Identification Through School Division

Yes/yes.

Duration of Program

Most modules require a three-day instructional time frame; however, for example, Leading Assessment and Instruction requires five days. Instructional time frames are not consecutive days as there is a break in instruction so that the participants can apply new skills learned in the training. After the application, participants return for more training. In Creating a High-Performance Learning Culture, participants receive three days of continuous instruction, apply their learning, and then return for another day of instruction.

Outcomes Measured

The SREB leadership modules have at their core a set of courses or learning experiences that prepare aspiring principals and school leadership teams to lead improvement in curriculum, instruction, and student achievement.

Program Evaluation

The Old Dominion University for Research and Evaluation in Public Schools will conduct the program evaluation. Participants' progress will be monitored by their respective school divisions.
