Program Description
This training program provides staff with the basics of designing and using high-quality rubrics. This workshop is practical, and participants leave the training with important skills for choosing or designing their own rubrics. Additionally, participants leave with necessary skills for using data from the rubrics to improve student learning.

Program Goals and Objectives
By the end of this program, participants will learn how to:
- Align assessments with the district's curriculum.
- Identify when to use performance assessments and accompanying rubrics.
- Identify the quality of a rubric.
- Determine content and format alignment of a rubric.
- Design high-quality rubrics for any subject and any grade level.
- Identify key terms related to using rubrics.
- Compare and contrast holistic and analytic rubrics.
- Distinguish between task-general and task-specific rubrics.
- Use a task-general rubric over the course of the school year - how to assess for success.
- Use a rubric to provide feedback and guidance to students to improve student achievement.
- Organize data from a rubric to determine individual, class, and school interventions.
Program Format
This program uses participant-centered learning strategies and is interactive and engaging. Ideally, participants have access to a computer lab during the program.Target Audience

This program is delivered in 10 hours over two days.Outcomes Measured
The work of each participant is reviewed during this workshop to ensure all participants leave with the skill of designing high-quality rubrics. The work is completed in a computer lab.Program Evaluation
- Participants complete an online or paper survey; results are reported back to the host district
- Copies of the high-quality rubrics designed by participants.
